Dr. Carland ispresident, chief executive officer, and chairman of the board of Mutual Insurance Company ofArizona (MICA). Prior to joining MICA in 1997, Dr. Carland was a practicing pediatrician inArizona. During his years of practice he developed a multi-physician pediatric group and servedas chairman of the founding boards of an Independent Practice Association (IPA), a statewidePreferred Provider Organization (PPO), and the holding company of a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO).
